Athletic, talented, lightning-fast reflexes and a great attitude – Canturano has the combination of traits that are necessary to reach high goals. Internationally successful with several riders, including Wout-Jan von der Schans, he regularly won ribbons in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. In 2009 he took third place in the Final of the Dutch stallion tests and won the Final in 2008. In 2007, after having won his stallion performance test with 131.86 points overall and 135.20 in the jumping index, he won the stallion show in Denkamp. He was approved for breeding in 2007 by KWPN where he was awarded a 9.0 for his ability to jump.
His offspring win ribbons in tests for young show jumpers in their respective age classes. Oldenburg Springpferdezuchtverband and the Holstein Verband licensed sons from his first crops: Cantitus, Canturenter, Calouso, Canaro and Castellani Z, and were not disappointed when they took their stallion performance tests. Cantitus Z (above right) received a 10.0 and 9.0 for his ability to jump, Canturenter (below right) a 9.0 and an 8.53 in the final score with emphasis on jumping. According to the 2012 FN Breeding Year Book, Canturano has a predicted breeding value of 153 points in jumping.
Canturano‘s sire, Canturo,  competed for Brazil at the Olympic Games in Athens, won the Grand Prix of Valkenswaar in 2006 and took second place in the Grand Prix of  Dubai, Wiesbaden and Rotterdam. His dam’s sire, Coriano Z, took the Belgian Champion title in the class for junior riders with Judy-Ann Melchior who was just 16 years old at that time. More than 20 of his sons have been licensed and he sired many successful sport horses, including at least 90 that have won ribbons in advanced (S) level classes, earning more than a million Euros on various courses.
Canturano‘s dam line also has quite a reputation: His full brother, Canturano II, was also licensed. A daughter of the great granddam Orion named Tanne became the dam of Hugo Simon’s Derby winner, Gondoso. Holstein line 2067 is also the origin of the international show jumpers Lausbub, Leonardo/Franke Sloothaak, Leonidas/Lars Nieberg and Lordon/Luciana Diniz.
